United Colors of Benetton branch extension in Ialyssos Rhodes

A small scale branch extension of a United Colors of Benetton store in Ialyssos, Rhodes
A good friend gave ma a call the other day and asked if I could help out with the extension of an existing branch of a clothing store. However, the difficulty of the project was to blend the extension to the existing store. Than meant that we had to find the same tiles, furniture and lighting fixtures and maintain of course the same partitioning in the interrior.
When I went on to see the place for the first time, I was more than dissapointed from the things that I saw...
It used to be a cafe and everything had to be demolished...Ha!
Fake cornices, wooden pegs and steel pipes that house electrical wires. I am still trying to find the source of the inspiration...GONE!
Artistic intervention on the ceiling probably inspired by medieval torturing methods....GONE!

The old roof (similar to the one you will see in a bank) with a climate changing A/C unit...GONE!

No problem at all... everything was brought down in the blink of an eye! A new roof was installed to keep the same height ratio. New electrical installation because the existing one was far more than dangerous and new openings were done in order to blend the extension to the existing store. The facade was repainted and insulated and the signs were maintained.

The previous tenant found it wise to pour concrete on top of the existing tiles in order to house his electrical installation and install a wooden floor.... GONE!

An "artistic intervention" of the previous tenant. Non symmetrical arch made of reinforced concrete for no bloody reason at all.... GONE!

Drainage pipe leading to the back yard....GONE!

Country style (Northern European style actually...) doors and windows having nothing to do with the surroundings...GONE
New and concealed electrical board according to the existing specifications and legislation

All walls were covered with gypsum panels in order to flatten all surfaces and the overhaul was nearly done...

New glass facade

Pistaccio green on the walls?....GONE!

New led lights, speakers, safety lights and fire detectors on the roof. A brand new security door was installed on the back side

Thank God the owner had a stock of shelves same as the existing ones and we avoided custom works tha would sky rocket the budget... New led fixtures from a local manufacturer and here you go!
We were also very lucky that the tile supplier had some of the exact same tile in stock... that was my main concern in the first place and thnkfully it went well.

The project was about to be delivered on the 27th of December. We managed to finish it on the 11th making the owner happy because he managed to work properly during the holiday season!

However, he lost a 500 Euro bet with a smile...

(It went straight to the staff involved as a Christmas Gift...!!!!)
